The Three Brothers

A wet start to the day did not discourage us in completing our tour of Riga. These are three narrow medieval buildings are known collectively as the three brothers. The one on the right is the oldest dating back to the 15th century. The bench outside indicates they could not afford to set space aside indoors to relax. The windows are tiny to avoid the 'light tax' that forced residents to pay more for windows on the street side. The next building was built in 1546 and the next the newest of the three but still built in the 15th century.

I struggled to fit them all in hence the oldest was cropped.

Then it was a long drive to Estonia to prepare for 6 days of Orienteering alongside the elite competing at this year's World Orienteering Championships. Hopefully we can fit in some spectating and sightseeing. Pleased with our accommodation in a chalet style wooden house.
