The Long And Winding Road

along Skippers Canyon.  This morning we drove out to see the place where one of the largest gold rushes occurred.  Gold was first discovered here in 1862.  The Shotover River at the bottom of the canyon was one of New Zealand's riches gold bearing rivers.  The road in one-way, narrow and steep with sheer drops.  Today its surface was also greasy with rain.  When we stopped to explore/take photos the ground was frozen and a few slips occurred but no falls thank goodness.  It is very rugged country and worth the drive if you have the nerve.  Rental cars are not insured for the road.
