Coming down the mountain.

A perfect morning. Blue sky, no wind, nice temperature. Our last day on Anglesey.

As old fell walkers are we up to the challenge of Holyhead Mountain? It is a mere 220 metres, not much bigger than Arnside Knott.

The first section is a wooden and stone staircase. Not too bad. Then there are narrow paths through bracken and gorse where it is not possible to see where you are putting your feet. Onto the open mountain the paths are badly eroded and very rocky.
Almost there but the last fifty feet has a nasty steep rock step. Remembering that Knottman is 82 and does not have perfect balance and that Mrs. K. Has not long ago had a new hip, we decide to call it a day. We know that if we had approached it on the easier path from the other side we would have got to the top.
Keep our strength for coming down which in some places is harder than going up.
The photo taken from part way down shows the Breakwater and a ferry coming from Ireland.
A good outing.
P.S. Yesterday's quiz. The white foam was spume from the breaking waves which was coming inland in large amounts on the strong wind. And lugworm head and tail markers on the shore.
