Goodbye Anglesey

Hwyn fawr Ynys Mons

In the Breakwater Country Park at Holyhead the shell of the old brickworks has been turned into a wonderful outdoor art gallery. It has no roof and unglazed windows but the walls surrounding the 100ft tall brick chimney are home to a large number of paintings and old photographs. Many are by Charles Tunnicliffe, a nationally famous artist who spent his later years on the island. The originals can be seen in the Anglesey Art Gallery. In addition to his well known bird paintings he worked for Ladybird books and here is an example of his work for them.

Thank you Anglesey for a week giving the pleasure of much beauty and discovery.
