O Canada

On the 1st July 1867, the Canadian Confederation came into being, however, did you know that two of the other names considered for the new country were Franklin and Guefeleland.

Anyway, Canada is an amazing country and this gives me the opportunity to sing the praises of one of my Canadian relatives again, Betty Taylor, who won a bronze medal at the 1936 Olympics in the 80 metres hurdles.

Congratulations to Canada and in the words of your national anthem, O Canada ...

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
