Day of Canoeing

Backblipping - Saturday 24th

We got up early and had breakfast in the B&B. The Canadian couple running it were not well organised and overwhelmed by altogether 10 people. I was asking for some boiled eggs and he was not pleased. It would take 15 minutes to do so .... well ....
I had what was there and we started our adventure.
Equipped with sunscreen, waterproof bags and even a waterproof camera from Neil we drove up the river to the start point of our 17 km canoeing trip on the river Voltava.
It was very busy at the Camp and we had to wait for a bit before we got our two boats and could start.
We had a Czech coke called Koffala - which is actually quite tasty and not as sweet as normal coke is. I would not touch normal coke.
We built the two team - Mirka and I together - The Project Manager Team - and Vera and Zdenka in the other - The Analyst Team!
After a bit of a struggle we made it on the river and started our journey. The weather was wonderful. 28 degrees and sunshine.
Mirka had all organised and several cans of Radler-beer and a bottle of bubbly were hanging in the water to stay cool.
We had great fun tying our boats together and starting the party.
After coupe of hours we stopped at a small cam where we got some freshly grilled trout for lunch and more Radler :) (extras)
Then back on the river.
We had to over com altogether 7 jezs (Weirs) which were great fun and quite refreshing.
The Analyst Team was much faster than Mirka and I. Our boat started deflating and the bottom had almost no air anymore. So we had hard work to do to move.
We stopped at a Cocktail Bar in the middle of the river to get some Mochitos - the Analyst Team was too worried not reaching their KPI's it seemed. We had fun!
After 5 pm we reached Cesky Krumlov and went ashore to get s coffee and something to eat.
Mirka managed somehow to find someone who would inflate our boat again. What a difference.
We continued paddling and reached the finish after 7 pm.
After staying dry and in the boat for the whole trip, Mirka and I managed to flip and fall out of the boat 5 m before the shore ....
what a good lough we had :)
As we were so late the bus service was already stopped and we had to get a taxi back up the river to the car.
We were back home at 9 pm and quite exhausted.
After a shower we walked back into town and ended up in the Cocktail bar from last night.
After 2 drinks we walked back up the hill and ended up having a proper girls party in the big room.
Zdenka had some Palinka (Pear Schnaps) which we drank from coffee mugs, accompanied by cake, chocolate and bretzels. (all gluten free thanks to Mirka's thoughtful shopping)
We fell to bed after the bottle was finished......
