The Gladstone Track, Lake Hawea

Today the 16 members of the walking group drove to Johns Creek at Lake Hawea, and then walked along the cliff faces to our lunch spot near the township of Hawea.  The weather was simply brilliant.  See extra 1 and 2.
We finished off with a nice cuppa at a local Hawea cafe.

Blip No. 1952

Year 1952.

The King is dead, long live the Queen.  I can remember this well, as we had a day off school to mourn the loss of our much loved King.  Long live the Queen certainly came to fruition, as she has had such a long reign, 64 years and still counting.

NZ population reaches 2 million.

Olympic Games.  NZ sent a team of 15 to Helsinki, where we won 1 gold, (Yvette Williams in the long jump), and 2 bronze medals.
