Bewl Water

Now and again a day turns out to be so very good when you least expect it and when little planning or thought has gone into the day. Today was one of those days.

You may recall we went to Push The Boat Out event at Bewl Water some weeks ago where sailing clubs were trying to attract more people into the sport. I'd done quite a bit of sailing many decades ago but none for many a year. We enjoyed it very much so took up the offer of visiting the club at Bewl Water to meet people and see how we might begin to sail again.

Indeed, everyone was very friendly and we received an invite to attend the next Wednesday afternoon session on the Water. We could have crewed in a race next Sunday but I'm already busy, more's the pity.

As the weather was so lovely we decided to stay at Bewl which has all sorts of activities and was very popular with families on the grassy banks and walking and cycling around the reservoir. We had a row on the water, very crab like in wavering, sometimes circular lines, lunch in the cafe and a pleasant walk through open woodland part the way around the 15-mile boundary of the Water.

Today's shot is of Susan photographing Purple Loosestrife near the water and the extra a lone white domestic goose in with a great crowd of Canada Geese. A very good day which exceeded any expectations we had!
