Fourth of July

The parade was lots of fun - floats and antique cars and trucks, clowns, firetrucks, lots of tractors and water guns.  There was candy being thrown and water being sprayed.  A couple of chats with old friends I hadn't seen in forever.  For today it was small town Americana, some pride, but our ideals have been shattered as we see beneath the surface.  We try to teach patriotism, but question authority, especially the "man in charge".  It was light and fun and celebratory and even homage to our UK heritage with bagpipes and men in skirts and was that a Union Jack (in Flickr)?  Don't turn on the news!
