Nicky and her Nikon

The Lads

Whew what a scorching hot day today - I feel very sorry for those at Wimbledon, watching in this heat. I have spent most of the day indoors in the study preparing table lists, again and again as we kept making changes, then writing out place name cards, preparing signs and table names. The place name cards was a big job as we are doing a table swap before pudding and the table swap is very complicated as there are more boys than girls, there are a couple of adults in the mix...it took forever! But finally I think I am ready - just have to pick up balloons on Saturday morning and the rolls for the bacon butties on Sunday morning.

My sister arrives in the very early hours of tomorrow morning. I never explained just how special her trip is - she is coming from South Africa and has never been abroad before, and therefore has never been to the UK before. Until a few months ago she never even had a passport (and that is an arduous task in SA with their appalling and inefficient system). Due to various circumstances she was not able to come until now - in the last few years mainly because my mother was not well and she did not want to leave her, but now she is coming and there is so much excitement!

As I had no time for photos today, I asked Thomas if I could take a quick photo of him and some of his friends - payback from all of them for supper last night, a cooked breakfast this morning and a pizza lunch!! They all went to a party last night (did I mention Thomas is socialising so much now that exams and school are over) and Thomas was so pleased to meet up with some people he knew from the rugby club he used to play at when he was at prep school, and who are friends of friends of his - only to discover they are our neighbours at the new house! He is delighted to have friends living next door. In fact they were one of the houses I visited yesterday to forewarn them about any noise from the 21st party on Saturday.
