Bird's Foot Trefoil

An eMail from the National Trust popped into my in-box promoting Bookham Commons with the lure of early sightings of a relatively rare blue butterfly, the Purple Emporer.   With the promise of a fine day and the desire for peace and fresh air, I headed out.

The Commons amply satisfied my desires, though the blue butterfly failed to make an appearance (I probably wasn't looking in the right place!).  There were plenty of skippers, and orange comma butterflies - and I also spotted Speckled Wood butterflies (extra).

However, as it it Flower Friday, my shot of the day has to be these Birds Foot Trefoil nestling in the grass at the side of a rather hot path back to the car
