Torn

This is a Garrya elliptica, and I just love it.  It has a feeling of Japanese elegance about it, and I was torn between the delightful elegance of the whole flower, and the gorgeous little pagoda flowers in closeup.  so the closeup is in extras.

It's not a native - actually comes from the West Coast of Oregon and California.  This one is planted in the gardens of Old Government House in Belair National Park, and the whole garden is planted up as a mid-Victorian Garden (roughly 1860 when the house was built).

Belair Park is Park of the Month for July, and one of the activities was a historical and cultural display at Old Government House.  So I was up there and had a great time.
