Playful Pelican

Our walking group went to the wetlands at Numurkah today, but this Pelican was performing his/her ablutions on the lake in the middle of town where we stopped for a picnic lunch.  On arrival it was sitting high in a dead gum tree, but decided to descend to the water and freshen up. Of course I had the bog standard shot of a lovely pelican sitting calmly on the water, but was intrigued by how much of an effort it engaged in over about 15 minutes of preening and cleaning. I have so many fun shots, so have included a few in extras.
