A New Day

Isle of Arran

Weather very mixed today, with sunshine and heavy showers, so it was difficult to know how to plan the day. We took a drive over the hills and through the Stinchar Valley. Amazing views, especially if you like wind turbines!

This brought us down to Girvan on the coast and we followed the coastal road to Ayr with great views of Ailsa Craig, but none of Arran, which was wreathed in mist.

So, instead, we admired the huge white golf club mansion that is Turnberry; the pretty beach at Maidens; the romantic ruins of the castle at Dunure; we puzzled at the Electric Brae phenomenon, but couldn't see it ourselves and we finally had a drive all round the lovely town of Ayr.

The sun had come out for a bit, so we did the whole trip in reverse and this time managed to actually see the Isle of Arran, hence the blip. It's raining again this evening and tomorrow doesn't look good either, so it's just as well we did that forest walk yesterday!
