Winyard's Gap

I awoke quite late (well, late for me - about 7:45 am) and C was already out walking the boys. When he returned we had a nice lazy morning and then headed inland for Crewkerne to do a bit of food shopping.
On our way back we dropped in on a superb little plant nursery (NOT a garden centre!) that grow all their own plants  (perennials and shrubs) and they were just beautiful. One for the memory banks.
Soon after we left the nursery we spotted a National Trust sign at the side of the road, so pulled up into a tiny car park. This turned out to be Winyard's Gap - a wooded ridge, which from the summit, evidently 4 counties can be seen - we saw only three today (Dorset, Somerset, and Devon - Wiltshire was elusive,  but only because the growth of foliage prevented any further views).
In the wood there is a memorial to the Wessex Division, who fought at the battle of Caen in 1944.
I rather liked this view of the canopy, deep in the wood.
My extra is the evening kayak class on the River Axe at Axmouth, where we stopped for a glass of wine on our way back.
