Felt like an expedition......

A dreadful day to be out and about but being intrepid kiwi's we braced the rain, wind and cold conditions seeking out this surf life guard tower on Bethells Beach.

It was hazy, black sand swept along the beach while rain lashed against us. Not good conditions for the camera but I wasn't going to give up, taking shots as rain drops dripped from my nose. We were drenched by the time we got back to the car, shoes covered in wet black sand and feeling quite cold but warm once in the car. I loved every minute :)

Piha was next on the list, conditions slightly improved with just the odd shower passing through although still very windy and cold. Shots taken of this rugged west coast beach, Lion Rock in extras. A warming late lunch was delish at the Piha Cafe, mushroom, feta and spinach omelettes, latte for hubby and hot chocolate for myself.

Enjoyed driving through the Waitakere Regional Park, sealed roads aligned with towering Ponga trees, their branches swaying like large feathers in the wind. Behind them NZ bush with the odd view of the sea below - stunning scenery.

I'm delighted you enjoyed yesterday's gannets, thank you. I won't be able to thank you personally at present but please be assured your words, stars and hearts are very much appreciated. Glad we went to Muriwai yesterday, today would've been impossible to capture gannets.

The day finished with an amazing sunset, couldn't believe my eyes when I looked out, hoping the weekend will be better weather.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone :)
