Muong Hoa Valley, Sapa, Vietnam

Day 15

A six hour drive north from Hanoi to Sapa. Dual carriageway until we reached Lao Chai, then a twisty mountain road. It got worse as we arrived in Sapa. The roads here are in a terrible state, huge potholes. Major work on infrastructure needed.

Lunch in a tiny place. Good food, but had my first experience of baby cockroaches, on a tray under a hot plate. Thankfully not on the sizzling meat.

We checked into our very nice hotel, Victoria Sapa resort, and upgraded to a De Luxe room. Welcomed with Apple and Cinnamon tea.

Our driver took us to the remote Muong Hoa Valley, to see the rice terraces. What amazing views. However the road here got worse by the minute. Too scary for me. After two stops for photos we turned back.

Delicious dinner at the Red Dao House. Good that the hotel has a buggy we can call to get us back up the steep hill.

Torrential rains. The roads just get worse. Some are like rivers now.
