Pictures & Woodwork.

Mottisfont Abbey.

It is really a house, cunningly crafted from a Medieval Priory.
Maud Russell fell in love with the house in 1934 which is set in beautiful riverside garden and it would become her lifelong country home.
There is amongst the gardens a walled garden with rare roses which was almost lost until it was saved by Graham Stuart Thomas. It really is a piece of art, just to wander round in and enjoy all the plants. It is beautifully maintained as is the rest of the estate.
There is also the coach house which is now a large café and there is a bookshop and ice cream parlour.

In the extras I have put the other side of the house and a stream that runs through the grounds, and also a butterfly (Gatekeeper) which I took a lot of shots of.

A very nice day and we could have spent many more hours there. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. It is run by the National Trust.

Have a great weekend.
Take care.
