Ice Sculpture

Ice does some strange things, but this is a real puzzle. It was projecting from a hollow fibreglass rod that I use as a marker in my garden. There was nothing above it so it wasn’t caused by drips. Another rod close by had a flattened head of ice, but not the stem.

After a hard frost today was a brilliant blue sky day. In the afternoon the temperature went up to 6ºC and I was able to get out and dig my car out of the hard snow. By the time I’d freed it and positioned it in the gateway it was too late to go out. Still, my washing almost dried so it wasn’t all bad.
