Castle Hill Peak To Mount Torlesse

I escaped! For the first time in five days I was able to get away from home. Thankfully my car drove over the remaining slushy snow to the road. I didn’t go far. The sealed roads were very busy and the gravel roads were in a terrible mess. Some of the puddles were scarily deep.

The snow had cleared from open spaces, but grubby heaps of it huddled under trees and behind hedges. I was disappointed to find that every view of the mountains now includes an ugly irrigator. Since building of the new irrigation scheme began they have sprung up everywhere.

In this photo I disturbed a flock of southern black-backed gulls that were grazing in the mud. The day was gloomy, but the sky was white.
