A bad omen....

Today is St Swithin's Day.    It has been wet all day with some very heavy pulses of rain.  I know because the building work on the roof has meant that the conservatory is (temporarily I  hope) leaking not so much like a sieve but like , well, a waterfall.   This is just one of the bowls catching the water.  

I hope the nursery rhyme does not prove true - if it does it will mean a deluge.... 

St. Swithin's day if thou dost rain 
For forty days it will remain 
St. Swithin's day if thou be fair 
For forty days 'twill rain nae mair.
