Very VERY ancient woodland

We took  several walks today. This one was Coney's Castle which is an ancient Iron Age Fort dating back to circa 250 to 500 BC. This is the ditch which runs around it. I could  imagine all sorts of animal-frolickings going on here during the hours of darkness.
The woodland was just beautiful. The tree roots are so old that in some places they formed arches through which you could see the landscape beyond.
In this main picture, the hill fort is to the left, and to the right is a sheer escarpment with views of nearby Lyme Bay. Those old ancients certainly knew how to pick their location, location, location!
My extra is a bog-standard ordinary stile - but I did wonder how many Blippers who don't reside in, or hail from, the UK would know what it was? To us it's the everyday means of pasing through a hedge or fence when on foot. Albeit very pretty when covered in wild flowers and ferns.
