Evening sunshine

Another hot day, relieved by the wind; but quite a tolerable temperature when I left the early evening concert at Fontfroide Abbey. It was part of a festival organised by Catalan viol player Jordi Savall; this year he had invited ad hoc groups of refugee musicians to perform, so the five musicians in this group were Kurds and Syrians. It was pleasant music, but I was disappointed that they didn't tell us a little about the pieces they played; I'm sure they must have told stories. I thought it might be lack of French, but at the end one of the oud players spoke in perfectly competent French, so it can't have been that.

Other than that a day of chores and watching Wimbledon -- women's final looked as if it was going to be great based on the first set, but what a letdown the second set was!
