Day 2 of Expedition - Beinn a Chroin

I have just back blipped 2 days for anyone interested.

Yesterday's views were way better than the forecast 10% chance of cloud free summits, but today was absolutely fantastic. Choosing my blip was very hard but the clouds reflected in the lochan atop Beinn a Chroin at 942m just won over the morning sun's rays on our tents, (extra).

From Lochan a Chroin we set off south east up on to the horseshoe ridge up past Carn Liath all the way around to descend the far eastern end (very steep) to a ring contour just west of Garbh. I was very glad I wasn't leading that bit and learned a few leadership tips from Andrew. We then took a bearing north across extremely rough ground towards The Convention, turning east just before it and following the river, through thick vegetation and boggy ground down to Ishag Glen and onwards to the track leading to Inverlochlarig.

It was another high achievement, but tiring day for the boys. They loved the views but found the long slog down on difficult terrain arduous. A good hour of singing and a packet of sweets helped boost morale and we eventually made it :-)
