A plethora of puffins

Our planned trip out to the Farnes today and whilst the sky was grey the sea was calm. A fairly lazy morning until we headed down to embark. We were glad not to be on another company's boat when we saw how they packed them in like sardines. Our third trip on Serenity was much more civilised even though there were 60 other folk on the boat. We saw puffins on the water fairly early on but that was nothing compared to the shots we got on the islands and on Inner Farne when we got off the boat for an hour. They really are great little characters - known as Tommy Noddies by the locals. We were also dive bombed by Arctic Terns protecting their young; saw kittiwakes and cormorants and their chicks; snoozing seals and their young and three lighthouses, including my favourite Longstone Lighthouse.

Back to Mum and Bailey who had had a walk and a snooze. Fish and chips for an early tea and a walk over to the 16th hole on the golf course to walk them off. Another wet day forecast for tomorrow so we have made the most of today.
