Crazy About Birds

Silver-spotted Skipper

This guy won the blip sweepstakes today ~ mostly totally because of his proboscis. Silver-spotted skippers are largish skippers, and in different (not so glaringly bright) light they can look almost black. They're easy to recognize and identify, obviously, because of that "silver" spot! They were the butterfly du jour today on the butterfly bush clump down by the mailbox. There were about six of them and not much of anything else. It seems to vary from day to day ~ which is good for blipping purposes! Yesterday there were two of those male eastern amberwing dragonflies that I blipped last week, which was fun.
