Walk to Faro de Cabo Mayor

Pretty sweet day here in Spain.... Up at 12, wondered to the Plaza Del Toros, then though the fishing area of town, winding up in a bar for a spot of lunch which, to fill me up, came to about ?2.30. Then I hired one of the TUSBici's (like borris bikes, only cheaper) and cycled over to town, met up with Armenel and Millie, and we walked to Cabo Mayor and back.

The walk was amazing - we discovered a number of hidden gems - fishing spots, bays with hardly anyone on them with amazing sand, and headlands with fantastic views back over to Santander and Somo. The geology was also really amazing - the rock strata are amazingly clear and visible, with fossilised sea urchins and shells in amazing detail.

The lighthouse - or faro in Spanish - looks over the sea to the Americas. This part of Spain was an important link, and still is, with shipping across the Atlantic.
