this is my time

Today, York University, where I work and study launched a new branding campaign: this is my time. The campaign focuses on students and their vision statements about what they want to accomplish with their YorkU education and their lives. Top students were selected to represent the campaign which is open to all students to boost York pride but also to help them set goals for their futures. All participants posting a vision statement online have a shot at winning their tuition for a year. We have some great students who will do wonderful things. It is an exciting time at the university. We have a new Life Sciences Building (blipped several times during its construction), the new Lassonde School of Engineering to break ground in 2013 (I think), the new stadium, and two subway stations being built on campus. Lots of growth and lots of construction.

Vice-Provost Students Janet Morrison reveals the new brand with President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mamdouh Shoukri. The picture is a bit fuzzy, sorry. It was crowded and I had my camera phone held high. You can read the story (one of many) here and see a very similar shot by a professional with a good camera.

As a communications staffer (and a grad student - this is my time, too) the new branding includes internal and external changes in how we communicate and present ourselves to the world. Some of our new initiatives are already in place but we are the third-largest university on campus so the complete execution will take a bit of time. Lots of things to keep me busy and out of trouble. ;-)
