On The Road Again

Here is some snow to show it really is still winter even if the spring flowers are starting to bloom.  The neighbours say we are never home. This is just a quick trip down to Christchurch to catch up with family.  Of course the lunch stop has to be here for a photo or ten.  It was sunny and warm.  Much warmer than last time  July 16th and different to June.
The inter web tells me the Lewis Pass is named for Henry Lewis who was the first European to discover the pass in April 1860.  The pass was used by the Ngai Tahu Maori of Canterbury to transport Pounamu (green stone) from the West Coast.  Extras the view of the road down the other side of the pass and close up of snow in tussock.
