Mikado

These tiny tiny orchids always remind me of the Mikado - you know, "Three Little Maids from School are We", and all that.

They are Veined Helmet Orchids, (Corysanthese diemencia); are the size of half my little finger nail, and so shy that, unless you have your orchid eyes on, you'd be bound to miss them.

And (hint hint) as I no longer have a decent macro lens, this photo really doesn't do them justice.

Today was most definitely a Park day for me.  A longish walk this morning with George, where I met friend taking his dog for a walk, and through the racket of yips and barks, he reminded me there was an orchid walk this afternoon.  So I decided to brave the weather and go.

I am so very glad I did.  I had a lovely time.
