Day lily

This day lily, Sammy Russell, has a single flower stem this year. In previous years it's had up to 20, but last year was very poor too. I had thought it had become too congested, and it was divided and replanted a couple of years ago, but still it declines to flower. This autumn we'll have to try more radical replanting, probably to another position, in the hope of reviving it. It's a shame it's so shy now, as the colour is a wonderful deep rusty orange, and when it blooms abundantly it's a real picture.
