Day 13

Day 13. Glencoe to Inverness. 84 long but very enjoyable miles. It was great to see the sun this morning when we set off. I was a bit concerned about this day as it's our longest of the tour and has a very big mountain in it.

We cycled along the A82 to Fort William where Mr PB bought some new cycling glasses. After tea and cake we cycled along a B road following the canal but higher up. We past Ben Nevis looking fantastic in the sunshine. This is where I got a puncture. Mr PB was quick to fix it and on we went.

We went along a track through the forest, where I saw a tiny little mouse/shrew running down the hill towards me, so cute. The scenery was amazing. Then onto a canal track that took us to Lagan Loch where we had tea and pasties that I bought several days previous. From there on to Fort Augustus, very busy with tourists. We it was fascinating to see the swing bridges in action for the boats.

Soon we were on General Wade's Military Road up the mamouth 1200ft of climbing in 5 miles. It was hard. But I made it to the top and took this. On the way up a lady in a truck told us sheepnwere in the road further up the road. She was obviously the advance warning party as there certainly were sheep in the road, see extra.

The views on the way up and at the top and on the way down were stunning. So worth the effort. Tired and with exceptionally sore feet we arrived at the hostel. Showered we trotted off into town for dinner, as it was raining we got some carry outs in Tesco and phoned for a taxi to take us back to the hostel
