Dodging the showers at Crathes Castle

After a lack lustre run in Braemar today punctuated by far too many mistakes we continued our tour of castles.

An early run allowed time to travel to Banchory. We walked round a trail through the woods to give Jet a decent walk before we explored the castle. The castle has some very striking painted ceilings well worth seeing.

As I emerged there was a heavy shower of rain. Fortunately that cleared and so I grabbed the opportunity to explore the gardens. Croquet was being played on the lawns despite the inclement weather. However I liked this view taking in the unusual topiary from the enclosed gardens.
