Quays

Our train home was not until lunchtime, so we had time to wander over to the Salford Quays and do a wee circular walk past the Imperial War Museum of the North and back to the Lowry, where we had a coffee.

Spectacular cloudage overhead, but luckily it held off from raining. Bizarrely I failed to take a coat to Manchester, so I was very much in the lap of the gods when it came to the weather.

When we got back to Edinburgh, Waverley and Princes Street were heaving. I guess this is one of the busiest Friday afternoons of the year, as the Festival begins this weekend in earnest. No taxis to be had, so we hopped on a 34 and took a very circuitous detour via Meadowbank and Restalrig to get down to Great Junction Street.

Now we're enjoying a laid back evening with P and H who are over for the weekend's festivities.
