In the hospital after no sleep last night, Dad seemed very laboured this morning, he did not manage breakfast. The consultant thought he had deteriorated too. But then later he woke up and although it took a while sometimes he had rambling chats, about when he was a boy and his Dad took him outside and he saw his first aeroplane in the sky. He talked about his old dog Peggy who was a wanderer and often used to follow him to the pub, The Horse and Groom. Also about his grandparents, his grandma's chickens, and going to Eastbourne as a little boy. he even managed to sing The Glasgow Song, (by Will Fyffe) and My Mother said I never should play with the gypsies in the woods.  Rovert paid him another visit and we had tea together while the nurses sorted out Dad.
The other man, who swapped with Dad, died in the morning, so a teary goodbye to his family. Dad got to move back to the side room, where he spent the afternoon asleep.  The hospital chaplain came by again and said prayers and a Bible reading and held our hands, I cried. But when Harry came after work, Dad instantly woke up and said hello and shook him by the hand. Harry showed him some of the new clothes he had bought ready for his new job. I fed Dad a tiny amount of soup and a taste of ice cream and a little Lucozade that he seemed to enjoy, even though his eyes were closed.  He fell asleep so we stayed and chatted for quite a while, then left for me to shower etc.
