I have a short trip to Lismore in 2 weeks time.

Lismore is in the Inner Hebrides, north of Oban. In the summer two ferries operate - one is the car ferry from Oban and the other is passenger only from Port Appin.

With the island being so small, a bike would be ideal. That's what I did when I went to Colonsay. But a car keeps the weather off... and the midges.

The cost of putting the car on the ferry is about the same as renting a bike for 48 hours.

I'll enjoy the fresh air and exercise if I'm cycling, but the weather...

Well, we'll see.
