On Some Days

# A is for . . .anchorage & antecedents

This afternoon I stopped in at the port on the way home from the movies in Nelson.  The haven as it's known has changed a lot from what it was when the early settlers came in sailing ships.  In 1843 Nelson was the most popular destination for immigrant ships and had New Zealand's second largest coastal fleet.  To mark the millennium a wall was built which tells the story of early  Nelson settlement, from Maori to the first European colonists. (the extra)  The port is still busy shipping the exports from the region; forestry, fruit and seafood.
The movie was Hampstead.  Light and fluffy.
