Fun Friday

This morning we drove nearly two hours south to the Rainbow Ski Field.  It is a small field with  a friendly feel to it.  People where having lunch by their cars in the car park.  A school group where having snow boarding lessons.  Families with young children where enjoying a day on the slopes.  The sun was bright and there was no wind.  We were shedding layers of clothing.   Our neighbours Robert and Annabelle came with us.  Robert is the only skier among us.  He didn't think he would come out of retirement for fear of breaking something.  It was fun  to go into a different environment.  The field has a height of 1760 metres.  It has regular winter snow plus snow making.  I hope you have noticed the foresters apres ski clothing of shorts over fleece leggings and his duck shooting gumboots.  The second extra is Six Mile Creek on the Wairau Hanmer Springs Road.  This could be another adventure.  You can drive all the way to Hanmer Springs.  We did it about nine years ago so time to revisit.
