Thank You For the Days ..

At Last

A wonderful summer's day!

In the morning, we all went into the garden. Onions were lifted, broad beans  picked and shelled, and more potatoes dug. The children were of more use than I - I kept getting distracted by the butterflies. Loads more have appeared, including a small copper and a couple of commas - we don't see many of them here. Peacocks, like the one in the picture, probably outnumber all the rest. And I think they are the prettiest.

After lunch D & C went off to Edinburgh for a quick fix of the Fringe, and we took the children to Eyemouth, which is maybe not the nicest beach on the east coast but it has the advantage of easy parking, an ice-cream shop, and an interesting harbour.

The sun shone and we had a lovely couple of hours till the tide came in and covered up all the sand. M managed to fall into the sea just as we were leaving - already changed into his last dry clothes. However, fish and chips on the way home warmed him up, and he's none the worse.
