Before the hordes descend

The Vauban fortress of Villefranche, a UNESCO world heritage site, is somewhere to avoid during the holiday season so if I need to go there I go early.  The sun was penetrating the streets which it only does for a short time and never in winter.  Last night's open air concert in Fuilla with Lili Baba, a singer songwriter with a backing group, was good. It was preceded by a market of local produce from the valley. I just bought some cheese. The Rotja valley attracts fewer tourists than ours so the festival events have a very convivial feel to them.  I can't imagine a better setting for a concert (see extra.)
