Orkney evening skies

I went to Sanday today with others from the Orkney RSPB group. We were looking for migrants and did ok. My carfulhad nice views of a couple of yellow-browed warblers and the sharp-eyed Alan found an American golden plover in a flock of about 1500 European golden plovers. Amazing. Raptors we saw: merlin, kestrel, two hen harriers. Also my first whooper swans of the autumn, and various other birds. I think the total in species for the day was about 78.

On the ferry back to Kirkwall there were some nice views of clouds. More here.
