The new kid on the block

Visited my friend Avril Nicol’s &gallery in Edinburgh where she has joined the ranks of the city’s prestigious gallery owners in Dundas St having relocated from Bridge of Allan.
 
Avril is well-known to artists in central Scotland because she is the co-ordinator of our Forth Valley Open Studios, now known as Artbeat .
 
Already her current exhibition, work by the artist Anna Somerville, is almost a sell-out.
 
This is another reminder of how important it is for artists to get their work shown not only in the right galleries but in the right location too.
 
Yes, that is cynical but that happens to be a fact of life in the art world.
