Gates to nowhere........

I took a lunch time detour to the North Light Gallery at Armitage Bridge where there is a small heritage exhibition about the history of Brooke's Mill.

Founded in 1541 by the Brooke family, the company is believed to be the oldest surviving family business in the U.K.

These gates were once the main entrance to Armitage Bridge House, which is a Victorian mansion House, built for Mr John Brooke.
