Smash!

Today I went out with the walking group. We went around the Maesbury area for an easy walk on lanes and canal. The weather forcast predicted rain but it stayed dry and very warm.

We saw a large elephant hawkmoth caterpillar feeding on the Orange Balsam on the canal verge. I'd never seen one before - it's the extra photo. Orange balsam is a Victorian imported species originally from North America but not as invasive as Himalayan Balsam.

On one of the lanes we came across the crash debris from the front of a car including the number plate and an L plate. There's been nothing on local radio about it and no-one had heard anything on the local grapevine so we assume that it wasn't serious. It's strange to leave everything there including the number plate though. Perhaps they'll return to clear up or possibly a stolen car.
