Gamble's Patents Co - Liverpool

Another blast from the past (but not my past!) unearthed whilst preparing to move offices is this contraption designed for taking messages. It's a paper roll housed in a wood and metal frame and refills can be obtained from Gamble's, 39 Chapel Walks, South Castle Street, Liverpool. No postcode provided.

It was manufactured for the patentee by the Houghton-Butcher Manufacturing Co Ltd, London. I can't see any date on it anywhere though.

The bottle of Quink I snapped last week brought back memories for many people. I wonder if anyone remembers using one of these things?

I also wonder if Gamble's still have premises in Liverpool.
