‘A’ is for . . .

‘A’ is for August, Aviation, Airfield, Aircraft, oh, and of course Avro Lancaster

Pity about the ‘T’

Today we intended to go to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and took the precaution of booking a mobility scooter before we set out on a two hour journey.  All scooters booked and no guarantee that we could park our trailer if we took our own SO . . .

After a fair bit of thinking and searching we found ‘The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre’ at RAF East Kirkby, which was only an hour away, with no need for the mobility scooter.  (Actually it would have made things easier as Mrs W could not make all of the site).

To cut a medium length story short we spent an enjoyable two or three hours there and got a load of shots of their Lancaster Bomber.  It did get towed out to the runway, but she was not started up and taxied.  A selection of my better shots are on Flicker.

My blip is Just Jane in the hanger, with an impromptu flypast from RAF Cranwell at extra.

Many thanks to BobsBlips  for hosting Wideangle Wednesday.
