Nicky and her Nikon

A beautiful day

It was a day of getting things done before we go on holiday - I had a hairdresser appointment this morning, then I took Thomas for his annual eye test (border line as to whether he needs glasses so they will re-test in 6 months time again), then he went to the barber and while he was at the barber I went off to this little open space next to a main road that usually has lovely heather and I was pleased to see that it did, and it was lovely again this year. We then went off to Kingston to collect his suit for school that had been altered and to get school shirts - so many chores ticked off.

And while I was going about my mundane little life there was another horrible attack in Barcelona where a white van deliberately crashed into pedestrians - who knew that vans would become the weapon of choice for these insidious terrorists? They will have to change the laws on the hiring of vans and trucks - actually that won't help, they will probably just steak the vehicles that they need.

A big day in many households today as the A level results came out, and surprise, surprise, boys have achieved better results than girls for the first time in 17 years. The new A level exams seem to be much harder than previous years. I did not realise that Thomas also got results today for the Additional Maths paper he did - it is a new exam, not a GCSE but not quite an A level so we did not know when the results would be out. He got the result he wanted so was pleased.... GCSE results this time next week, and hopefully we will have wifi in our safari camp so that he can access the school website to get his results.
