A Handsome Moth

We had just sat down in the conservatory to have our lunch and found this rather splendid moth on the wall.  We moved him outside onto a nearby tree trunk and I managed to get a photo of him.  We looked him up and it's an Angle-Shades moth, which apparently are common between May and October.
I'm very fond of moths...such a huge variety and so secretive, we rarely get such a good view of one.
