Blip Central's Cultural Blip Point of Interest....

My choice is The Milwaukee Art Museum, shown here in the center of the picture and located on the shores of Lake Michigan. The top of it is a movable, wing like brise soleil that opens up to a span of 217 feet (66m) during the day, and folds up like you see it here, at night or in bad weather. The wings go up just before the museum opens for the day, but I took this around 8 this morning, so the wings are still folded down. It was designed by Spanish Architect Santiago Calatrava and built in 2001, winning many design awards. In 2015  a 30,000 sq. ft. addition was built to house more of the artwork, of which there are some 35,000, housed on 4 floors, with works from antiquity to the present. It also houses the largest collection of works by Wisconsin native Georgia O'keeffe. It's a fabulous place, and well worth a visit! :))
