Desperately seeking

Barricade

When we bought the lodge 13 years ago the rabbits were a bit surprised to be offered a new food source. We were told then that we should plant lavender as it's one thing they don't eat.

Looking out of the kitchen window today I could tell that they had dug up a plant again, presumably looking for the under-planting of bulbs. Yes, I know bulbs should be planted deeply, but the lodge was built on the site of the former club-house. I think they just knocked it down and put some topsoil on it! Needless to say deep digging isn't easy.

Our neighbours planted lavender around the edge and they now have a well established border of it. This year we have done the same and I'm glad to say, the plants are surviving.

We have an ulterior motive for doing this, we want to stop dogs being able to easily access our lawn. We're at the bottom end of our estate so all the dogs get walked past our garden. They site really wouldn't suit a wooden fence.
